How Much To Paint A Room, Madison Ct

Sometimes people will call the office and want a price over the phone to paint a room for them.  It’s not an easy answer!  A lot of the time the customer just doesn’t want to waste our time if we come out and it doesn’t fit their budget.

First, it’s hard to give a price over the phone because we don’t know what condition the room is in.  Does it need extra patching?  Or extra prep above the norm or maybe it’s a very very easy job that won’t take much time at all.   So, we can end up over pricing or under pricing the job by not seeing it first.  That is why we created this blog ” How Much To Paint A Room, Madison Ct” http://youtu.be/dyZLkiB9yAU?list=UUPqhZXm3tlefzuw_-YJCAPw

PAINTING KITCHEN CABINETS, PAINTERS IN GUILFORD CT

Painting your kitchen cabinets is a great way to give the entire kitchen a fresh, brand new look without breaking the bank! This is why we posted this article PAINTING KITCHEN CABINETS, PAINTERS IN GUILFORD CT to give you some tips about it.

First thing is to clean the cabinets inside and out using a gentle solution like TSP.  You want to make sure there is no dirt, dust and grease on the cabinets.  Let them dry out thoroughly.

Next, you want to protect areas that are not getting painted, so tape some Rosin paper over the counter tops and floor.  You can also tape plastic sheeting over the back splashes and windows if needed.   You will also need a work table for  the doors, drawers and shelves.

Remove the cabinets from the  frames, remove all the hardware.  Put hardware in safe place.  Place the cabinet doors on your work table.  Note:  Be sure to have a window or crack a door in the kitchen to allow fresh outside air inside.

Now, scrub all the face frames, the drawer fronts, doors and shelves with an abrasive pad that has liquid de-glosser on it.  Make sure that you have papers underneath to catch any extra liquid that will drip.  Before it dries, wipe away the residue with a clean de-glosser dampened rage.

If you are moving where the hardware is going to be put back on the doors and drawers, be sure to fill the holes with a two part polyester wood or autobody filler. It dries in pretty quick so make small batches of it. After it dries, you will need to scrape off any excess and then gently sand it so it’s flush with the wood surface.   Next sand all the surfaces using a 100 grit paper.  Make sure to dust off the dust, you can also use a tack cloth.

Choose a high quality primer, such as a oil based primer, they are good for maple, cherry or man made materials.  Use a good quality nylon-polyester brush.  Give it a good day to dry.  Sand the surfaces again using a orbit sander, 220 grit paper. It should be very smooth when you are done.

Next, you want to caulk any open seams using latex caulk.  After applying the caulk, smooth the seam with  a damp finger.  Fill any scratches, dents or dings using a vinyl spackle and smooth it flat with a putty knife.   After it dries, sand again.  Vacuum and clean all surfaces.

Working from top to bottom start painting across the grain.  Sand all the surfaces after the first coat dries with a 280 grit paper.  Vacuum and clean again.  Use a brand new brush for the final coat.  When it dries, you can hang everything back up!
