Everyone has problems! We have the solutions to your PAINTING problems! Hi, I am Dave Moffitt and I’ve been a painting contractor for over 37 years and I’ve seen it ALL! One thing I have learned is if you are a painting professional, you have the answer to just about any painting issue out there! That’s why I created this blog “How To Solve Painting Problems, Branford Ct”
I’ve seen moisture problems, color problems, rotted wood, houses that were painted with the same color but the color was uneven on different parts of the house. Faded stain, chipped paint, chalky surfaces! You name it, I’ve seen it!
Homeowners sometimes like to paint their home themselves and run into all kinds of problems.
Call us if you need any advice on a painting/staining problem, or if you want product advice. Even if we are not hired to paint for you we are very happy to help you over the phone!
In this article I am going to pick up where I left off at on the previous blog ‘How A Great Painting Job Gets Done Part 2, Madison Ct. In my previous article I talked about how important it was to check around the house for any rotted/bad wood and remove it and replace with new wood.
After you replace any bad rotted wood, the next step is to power wash the house to remove any dirt and/or mildew. Let the house dry thoroughly. Next step is to putty and caulk the trim where it needs it. Check to see if the windows need re-glazed. After these steps you want to prime the surface, especially the new wood that was installed. Be sure to use high quality products like Benjamin Moore. It is as important as the prep work!
Once the priming is all set, you are ready for the finish coat! Be sure to use good brushes.
I hope this article helped! Please feel free to call us with any questions you may have, we are happy to help!

The biggest key in getting a great paint job is hiring someone that understands the importance of prep work! This is why I created this blog How A Great Painting Job Gets Done Part 2, Madison CT.
Like I mentioned before in a previous article, I understand that price is important, but it should never be the only thing you look at! There is a vast difference between a true professional painter and a person that thinks they are a professional. Here is a good video below:
The biggest part of your estimate should be about the preparation done on your home before the finish paint is applied. What kind of prep work? The first thing to look for is rotted wood. During the estimate the person performing the estimate should check for any bad or rotted wood. This must be removed during the prep phase and new wood installed. Normally, it’s a ballpark figure to do the carpentry repair. They should be able to give you an hourly carpentry rate and an hour range for the labor.
Any newly replace wood should have primer put on it before anything else!
Does the house need to be power washed? It’s a very good idea to properly wash the house to remove dirt and/or mildew. Applying paint over a dirty surface would cause a lot of issues.
So carpentry repair and rotted wood removal is a very big step in the preparation process!
I hope this helps, please look up my How A Great Painting Job Gets Done Part 3, Madison Ct for more details! If you have any questions, please call us! We are happy to give professional advice over the phone!
Sincerely,

Nowadays there are so many different shades of color to choose from! White isn’t just white anymore! There could be twenty different whites! Each paint company had their spin on colors as well!
What’s the solution to choosing the right color for you before painting an entire wall, room or exterior of your home? Pick a handful of samples and have your painter put them on the surface that is getting painted! Don’t be shy about how many greens or whites you need put up to decide! Some colors are only a shade different from the next, but when it’s on a wall or the outside of your home, the sunlight changes the color through out the day!
A light color can look very different once applied! Many stores now sell tiny little tubs of paint that are perfect for this without breaking the bank!
Check out how the color looks as the light changes during the day. You will be surprised how a color can look one way on the chip but look totally different on the wall! Make sure the paint is completely dry before you decide as the color changes when it goes from wet to dry!
So, I hope this article 50 Shades of Gray painter, Guilford Ct was helpful!
It’s not the “tie up” version! LOL! But it’s important!
Please feel free to call me with any questions you may have or if you would like some help picking out a color!
What seperates a professional painter from everyone else? It’s the approach in how you prep your job! The success of a beautiful paint jobs lies in the preparation work!
You need to take the proper time to evaluate the job, see what is needed! Is there any moisture problems? Is there rotted wood? Once you evaluate the work to be done, the next step is outlining the order in which things should be done, after that, it’s taking the proper time and patience to scrape, sand, do any wood repair, pick the right products to use and apply them.http://youtu.be/N2_BifV1c4w

You can always call us with any questions you may have or if you would like a professional painting evaluation/estimate done on your home!
Sometimes it can be a little confusing deciding on latex base or oil base paint for you home. Nowadays the paint industry is putting a lot of their effort into producing really great AcrySolic/latex base paint lines. Oil is great, but it has a few small drawbacks.
I like to use Acrylic over Oil because it dries faster (in about 15 minutes) versus Oil which can take hours, depending on the temperature! Oil really smells! There are really great low or no VOC acrylic paints out there like Benjamin Moore’s Natura brand that is fantastic!
There are some good oil base primers, but I am in favor of the Acrylic. If you would like some professional advice, please call us! We are happy to talk to you over the phone or come out and visit you for a free professional estimate or evaluation of your home!

There’s a few important things you need to have in your estimate that is very relevant to a great estimate! This is why I created this article How To Get A Great Painting Estimate, Madison Ct.
First, go online and do a search for a contractor that includes your hometown and perhaps a few towns over, if you live in Madison Ct, you can google: house painter guilford, madison, branford ct. This way you are seeing a nice variety of contractors. If you want to keep in strictly in your town that’s great also.
Once you contact the painting company, pay attention to how long it takes for them to get back to you if they don’t answer the phone at first. See how long it takes to have them call you back, schedule the estimate, (do they take a week to meet with you?) Once they visit you, how long does it take to get a written detailed estimate with the proper information in it? What kind of information are you looking for? It’s this:
Full details with the prep process, how many coats of paint, type of materials, when they will schedule the work, how long the job will take.
Also, check that they have a lead license, a state Home Improvement Contractor license.
Make sure they have liability and workers compensation insurance.
I hope this article How To Get A Great Painting Estimate, Madison Ct is helpful. Please feel free to call me with any questions you may have or to schedule an estimate!

Picking a color for your home can be very difficult, but it doesn’t have to be! There are ways to ensure that you have done everything you can to make sure that the color or colors you pick are right for you!
The first thing to do is go to your local paint store and carefully check out the paint charts. They have colors that you can pick individually or a bunch of colors in one chart. I like to pick the individual square’s or strips that have 1-4 colors, take the colors home and pin them to the wall. Watch the chip throughout the day because the different light througout the day will make the color change a little. http://youtu.be/AqGyirzQnlE
After you pick the colors, you can go back to the store and get a pint of the color and a little sponge stick to take home and put an actual paint sample on the wall. Let it sit for a week to see how it looks and to make sure you like it.

Hi everyone! We get a lot of calls asking if we do window glazing, and that’s why we created this blog Window Glazing and Painting Branford Ct. Yes, we do!
Window glazing is kind of a lost art, but it is an art and takes know how and skill! Glazing compound holds the window in place (especially older windows) and keeps weather out!
Basically you remove the old glazing compound which can get hard as a rock, crack and have pieces fall out. Then you remove old putty. There is a process to the removal and re-installation of the new glazing compound and putty. So, I hope this article Window Glazing and Painting Branford Ct helped!
We have been painting in Branford Ct for over 37 years! We also cover Guilford Ct, Madison Ct and all the way up the shoreline!
If you have any questions at all on how this process works, please call us! We are very happy to talk to you and give you all the information you need! Even if you don’t plan on using our company for your painting needs, please call, we will guide you through the process!
“I recently used Coastline Painters to paint the interior and exterior of a newly-built accessory building on our property. The interior of the structure has a good amount of wood detail. I thought Coastline did a fantastic job not only with the painting but with all the prepping and staining of the wood. Dave, the owner, did several samples of paint and stain for me until I was satisfied with my color choices. His guys were always on-time and polite and were extremely accommodating if I pointed out any little detail that wasn’t to my liking. They never made me feel that I was too demanding. I believe they have a lot of pride in their work, and want their customers to be satisfied in the end. I plan on using their services in the future when it’s time to repaint our house.”
“Coastline Painters are wonderful! They stick to the schedule, their work is fantastic, and they are neat and clean. I will call them again.”
