Preparing To House Paint, An Essential Guide, Painter In Westbrook Ct

Adding a fresh coat of paint or bringing a new color into a home can make a world of a difference. But, sometimes, it can seem like a grueling task to start and finish yourself. To help the process move along quicker, take some steps in extra preparation and you can save yourself a ton of time later on!  This is what a lot of interior house painters do!  This is why we created ” Preparing To House Paint, An Essential Guide, Painter in Westbrook Ct

Use a “Staging Area” when starting to paint the interior of your house!

If you’ve ever painted a room while lugging a gallon-sized can of paint around the room with you, you know how tiring and draining that can be. Well, it can also be time consuming. If you think about all of the chances you give yourself to spill paint on the floor when you’re picking up and setting down that paint can, you can imagine the amount of paint you’ll likely have to clean up after the job is complete.  Professional house painters in Westbrook Ct use these tips:

Want to save yourself some time? Every extra step you take in preparation is another step you won’t have to take in clean up. Prepare a “staging area” to use while you’re painting. Leave your open paint cans, extra brushes, rollers, and cleaning supplies in the middle of the room for easy access. No room for spills and everything is kept all together!  Of Course you can choose to put all these items on a fold table, this way you don’t have to bend over all the time, another great tip for house painting is put a painters drop cloth on the floor first, or an old cloth or blanket.

Clean the Area

This may be a no-brainer, but if it’s not done you could end up spending twice the amount of time, effort, and potentially money, to fix the areas that weren’t cleaned.

Whether you’re painting floorboards, walls, ceilings, moulding, etc. cleaning the area first will make an incredible difference in the quality of work you’re able to complete. There are tons of different things you may find on your walls – dust, dirt, oils, smudges, etc. All of these can affect the way the paint takes to the surface. For example, with an oily area, it could change the consistency of your interior house paint.

For a smooth, clean, and professional finish, remember to clean the area you plan on painting before you put anything on it!

Cover the Flooring

While you may think you can get away with covering the flooring just around the base of your walls, you’d be surprised at the amount of paint that would probably end up on your flooring if you did so.  Covering your flooring is one of the easiest ways you can prepare for any paint job, because it usually just involves throwing some sort of plastic or tarp down (and making sure it covers everything, obviously).

Each step you take in preparation is another step you won’t have to make during clean up. Just remember that, and you’ll always go above and beyond to prepare for your do-it-yourself interior house painting job that your friends always ask about – “what was the name of the painter you hired for this, again?”

If trying to tackle a project like this is not for you – don’t worry, we’ve got just the right painters for the job! If You Are Buying Or Selling Your Home You Should Paint It Branford Ct

It’s so important to make sure your home is at its best if you are thinking of selling it!  That’s why we created this article If You Are Buying Or Selling Your Home You Should Paint It Branford Ct .

If you are selling your home, you want it to look its best and get the most money you can when you sell!  Painting is a great way to do this!  It’s one of the best investments!  Think about it, if you were buying a car and you went to the lot and saw all these cars, and there was one that was dirty and dingy, would you consider getting inside of it and going for a test ride?  You probably would not!  Why would you want to?  If the exterior looks bad, that shows that proper maintenance was not done, and if  they didn’t maintain the outside, why would that make you think they properly maintained the inside??

If you are a buyer, and you find the perfect home but you want to change some colors inside or perhaps it needs freshening up, the perfect time to do it is before you move in!  When a painting contractor paints the inside of your home with all your valuable posessions in it, it takes more time to cover things up and carefully work around your stuff, so, it can take longer and involve more work, which means it costs the painter more money.  If a painter has an empty home to paint, he doesn’t have to cover up your furniture and can work quicker, which allows for a better price to you! It’s a win/win for both of you!

If you have any questions or need some painting advice, please feel free to call us! Even if you are not hiring us, we are happy to provide you with professional advice!

I hope this article is helpful to you!

PICKING A PAINTER GUILFORD CT

I am writing this article PICKING A PAINTER GUILFORD CT to help give you some guidelines on what to look for in a painter!  Here are a few basics:

1. Make sure they are fully insured with workers compensation insurance 2. Liability insurance 3. commercial auto insurance

2. They must be licensed in the state of Connecticut through the Department of Consumer Protection.  You can go on their website to look up a company name to make sure they hold a current license. They are also suppose to carry a small wallet size card from the state with their license name and number on it.

3.  They must have a lead license.  There are no exceptions to this, this is a serious safety issue!

4. Get a few references, ask where they buy their paint, you can call the paint store to check them out as well!

5. How long have they been in business? This is important!  Will they be around if you need to call them a year down the road?

Another important consideration is time.  How long did it take for them to return your call for an estimate?  How long does it take to get a fully written detailed estimate from them after they meet with you?  The state has guidelines that contractors must follow in their estimates.  They must specify the dollar value of course, and also when they will start the job and how long it will take.  They need their license number on the estimate.  Do they have an office?  Do they have a website that gives you more information about their company?  How about a cell phone number and email?    Some things are not required by the state like a website, but it shows their professionalism and effort to make sure it’s easy to reach them and to give you valuable informaton!  Our website has a blog that we add to everyday with informative articles to educate you about different topics.  We paint houses in Guilford Ct and Madison Ct as well as other neighboring towns!

I hope that this article PICKING A PAINTER GUILFORD CT was helpful!  If you have any questions please contact us by phone or email!  We are happy to talk to you!dave's photo

How To Paint A Garage Floor Guilford Ct

Garage floors take a beating, but they don’t have to look like they do! If your garage floor is stained with grease, dirt and rust, painting it can give the floor and the garage a new fresh look! You can choose from a wide range of colors, but if you work inside your garage alot, you might want to consider a lighter toned color that would reflect light.  You can also add colorful specs to the floor!

A latex base paint is good, or you can use a one step or two step epoxy paint system for garage floors.  Sherwin Williams and Rings End both carry great products for garage floors as well as other main paint stores.

When you do choose the brand, be sure to pay close attention to the instructions and in particular the temperature range the floor must be.  The floor temperature and temperature in the air is not the same thing, usually when the paint fails it’s because it was to humid or cold.

Check the floor surface, if there are cracks or holes be sure to fill the cracks and holes with concrete patch.  If your garage floor gets wet alot, treat with  a concrete water proofer before painting, do not use a waterproofer if you are using epoxy on the floor.

Next you need to clean the floor, if there is grease stains use a de-greaser and brush and thoroughly clean the floor, you can cut down on elbow grease by renting a floor maintainer machine.  Make sure the floor is clean of any grease or sealers of any kind.

Next you are ready to apply the expoxy kit or paint.  Be sure to read the instructions carefully.  With the epoxy kit, you have about two hours to apply, so map out beforehand how you want to go about it.  Make sure the weather outside is not wet or humid.  You will need a two to three day drying time and then another two to three days before you put your car in the garage!

I hope this article How To Paint A Garage Floor Guilford Ct helped!
