Best Time To Paint Exterior of Your Home! Many people think that the best time to paint the exterior of your home is summer or spring, but really the fall months are very ideal for house painting!  In the summer months it can get very humid which causes paint to dry longer, especially if it’s oil which takes a lot longer. We are house painters in Guilford Ct and used to the many different temperature swings in the New England area. First painting your home is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to increase the value of your home!

When you paint your home in the fall you still have plenty of good weather to take advantage of! Sometimes its easier to do this valuable project in the fall due to the fact that things seem to be a little calmer around the home.  When you have a house painter on the premesis he usually will have a house painting crew with him.  When a good house painter from a reputable house painting company sets up the shop on your property, it can take up a little space.  If you decide to paint the exterior of your home in the fall, the kids are back in school and not around the house during the day, this makes it easier on the kids and family when house painters are working. In the fall, the weather is less humid which helps with drying time, and now with all the new high quality paints being able to sustain colder temperatures its a matter of researching the paint brand for the specifications and seeing the temp range.  Mostly it’s a good idea to stay above 40 Degrees in outside temp but you can go a little colder and do great.  There are a few things to watch for, the house painter you hire will want to make sure that the house surface is dry from any dew in the morning, this might mean a little later start, between 9:00-9:30 or a little later depending on where you live instead of the usual 7:30-8:00 am start, this gives more valuable time for drying.   After the paint or stain is applied in temperature’s at 40 degrees or above it is important that the temperature stay at 40 degrees or above for the next 3 hours so that the drying process is good.  Also, at night it’s important that the temperature does not drop below freezing the first night because curing paint can still have some moisture in it and it can crystallize in sub-freezing temperatures at night.  Please know that you won’t be aware of a problem until spring or summer months if this does happen because moisture can stay trapped under the wood, and in the warmer temps find it’s way out, which means bubbling paint!  So, if your house painter adhere’s to these guidelines,  you can have a fantastic paint job in the fall months! Sometimes you can get a little better value if you wait until the fall, a house painter is very busy in the warmer months and may be looking to fill a few gaps in the fall schedule and you can get a better deal!  We are house painters / painting contractors in Guilford Ct and we also serve the Madison Ct, Old Saybrook Ct, Westbrook Ct, Branford Ct areas and are happy to visit your home for a free professional evaluation or if you are not near us, please feel free to call us with any questions, we are so happy to help you! If You Are Buying Or Selling Your Home You Should Paint It Branford Ct

It’s so important to make sure your home is at its best if you are thinking of selling it!  That’s why we created this article If You Are Buying Or Selling Your Home You Should Paint It Branford Ct .

If you are selling your home, you want it to look its best and get the most money you can when you sell!  Painting is a great way to do this!  It’s one of the best investments!  Think about it, if you were buying a car and you went to the lot and saw all these cars, and there was one that was dirty and dingy, would you consider getting inside of it and going for a test ride?  You probably would not!  Why would you want to?  If the exterior looks bad, that shows that proper maintenance was not done, and if  they didn’t maintain the outside, why would that make you think they properly maintained the inside??

If you are a buyer, and you find the perfect home but you want to change some colors inside or perhaps it needs freshening up, the perfect time to do it is before you move in!  When a painting contractor paints the inside of your home with all your valuable posessions in it, it takes more time to cover things up and carefully work around your stuff, so, it can take longer and involve more work, which means it costs the painter more money.  If a painter has an empty home to paint, he doesn’t have to cover up your furniture and can work quicker, which allows for a better price to you! It’s a win/win for both of you!

CUSTOM PAINTING GUILFORD CT

CUSTOM PAINTING GUILFORD CT offers all different kinds of painting!  If you are looking to add a special touch to a room, there are alot of ways to accomplish that!

One way is create an “accent wall”, three walls in the room share one shade and then you take one wall and put a fun or bold color on it to help bring together the room and add a little something extra!

Another way is to add texture or design to the wall.  You can do this two ways, buy a textured paint, like suede finish, or you can use regular paint and use a special technique to apply the paint to create a different finish, like ragging, or faux.

PICKING A PAINTER GUILFORD CT

I am writing this article PICKING A PAINTER GUILFORD CT to help give you some guidelines on what to look for in a painter!  Here are a few basics:

1. Make sure they are fully insured with workers compensation insurance 2. Liability insurance 3. commercial auto insurance

2. They must be licensed in the state of Connecticut through the Department of Consumer Protection.  You can go on their website to look up a company name to make sure they hold a current license. They are also suppose to carry a small wallet size card from the state with their license name and number on it.

3.  They must have a lead license.  There are no exceptions to this, this is a serious safety issue!

4. Get a few references, ask where they buy their paint, you can call the paint store to check them out as well!

5. How long have they been in business? This is important!  Will they be around if you need to call them a year down the road?

Another important consideration is time.  How long did it take for them to return your call for an estimate?  How long does it take to get a fully written detailed estimate from them after they meet with you?  The state has guidelines that contractors must follow in their estimates.  They must specify the dollar value of course, and also when they will start the job and how long it will take.  They need their license number on the estimate.  Do they have an office?  Do they have a website that gives you more information about their company?  How about a cell phone number and email?    Some things are not required by the state like a website, but it shows their professionalism and effort to make sure it’s easy to reach them and to give you valuable informaton!  Our website has a blog that we add to everyday with informative articles to educate you about different topics.  We paint houses in Guilford Ct and Madison Ct as well as other neighboring towns!

I hope that this article PICKING A PAINTER GUILFORD CT was helpful!  If you have any questions please contact us by phone or email!  We are happy to talk to you!dave's photo

How To Paint A Garage Floor Guilford Ct

Garage floors take a beating, but they don’t have to look like they do! If your garage floor is stained with grease, dirt and rust, painting it can give the floor and the garage a new fresh look! You can choose from a wide range of colors, but if you work inside your garage alot, you might want to consider a lighter toned color that would reflect light.  You can also add colorful specs to the floor!

A latex base paint is good, or you can use a one step or two step epoxy paint system for garage floors.  Sherwin Williams and Rings End both carry great products for garage floors as well as other main paint stores.

When you do choose the brand, be sure to pay close attention to the instructions and in particular the temperature range the floor must be.  The floor temperature and temperature in the air is not the same thing, usually when the paint fails it’s because it was to humid or cold.

Check the floor surface, if there are cracks or holes be sure to fill the cracks and holes with concrete patch.  If your garage floor gets wet alot, treat with  a concrete water proofer before painting, do not use a waterproofer if you are using epoxy on the floor.

Next you need to clean the floor, if there is grease stains use a de-greaser and brush and thoroughly clean the floor, you can cut down on elbow grease by renting a floor maintainer machine.  Make sure the floor is clean of any grease or sealers of any kind.

Next you are ready to apply the expoxy kit or paint.  Be sure to read the instructions carefully.  With the epoxy kit, you have about two hours to apply, so map out beforehand how you want to go about it.  Make sure the weather outside is not wet or humid.  You will need a two to three day drying time and then another two to three days before you put your car in the garage!

I hope this article How To Paint A Garage Floor Guilford Ct helped!
