4 Signs It’s Time to Paint Your Home

4 Signs It's Time To Paint Your Home4 SIGNS IT’S TIME TO PAINT YOUR HOME

Once every few years, your home is ready for a paint refresh. There are several factors that contribute to how often you will need to paint the exterior of your home.  Those factors include what material is used on the outside of your home, the weather extremes where you live, and how well your house was painted the last time, you may have to repaint the exterior of your home. Considering these factors, you may need to paint approximately once every 5 years.  We all know that Connecticut can be home to extreme weather on both ends of the spectrum. Rain and sun usually impact the north and east facing sides of the house first. Wear and tear is usually a little more progressive because of this. Foot (and hand) traffic, as well as the type of paint used, are contributing factors as well. For example, the stain on wooden stairs will wear faster than other areas of the house because there is typically more traffic on the stair. Window frames and interior doors may also be victimized by heavy usage, especially if you have kids. How do you know when it’s time to paint your house again?

How Do You Know Its Time to Paint Your Home?

  1. When do you have to paint: The signals?

Wood Stained in Guilford CTAfter a while your home’s paint is ready for a refresh, but how do you know when this is? Exterior home painting lasts 5 years on average but this average can be impacted by weather extremes and material used in the house, as well as how well the last paint job was done. For indoor home painting the average is 7 years but if your house is a very active house then it may be much shorter for some rooms. Here are some of the signs that indicate your home’s paint needs a refresh:

  • Cracks and/or blisters are created in the painting
  • Paint looks discolored or worn out
  • Paint is chipped or stained
  1. Test Your Home Paint

In addition to the signs that indicate when you have to paint, there are also tests that you can perform. These tests will help you confirm it’s time to call your call your home painter.

  • Test 1: Adhesion test

You perform the bonding test by gluing a piece of tape onto your painting and then pulling it loose. When the paint sticks to the tape, this is an indication that you have to refresh your home’s paint.

  • Test 2: Powder test

In the powder test, you wipe over your painting with a damp cloth. If there is paint powder on your cloth, it’s time to call your home painter.

  1. When do you paint inside?

Interior Painter in CTAn interior painter is available all year round to update your home’s paint. It is especially important that the room is well ventilated and that the temperature is constant. Then the paint dries quickly and evenly. There are several situations when the indoor paint is not possible:

  • When the outside temperature is above 85 degrees Fahrenheit

Painting indoors in warm weather above this temperature influences the result. Unless the interior is temperature controlled it’s best to delay interior painting until the temperature cools a little, especially if the humidity is high.  This is because blisters can form on the paintwork causing your paint to not look it’s best.

  • When the woodwork is damp

Whether or not wood rot is present, you cannot paint damp woodwork. If you do, the paint layer will quickly peel through the moisture in the wood. It is therefore important that woodwork dries well before the painter starts working on it

  1. When do you paint outside?

When do you paint the exterior of your house? The best time to do this is between April and October. During this time the temperature is between 50 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit, the best temperature for painting. The humidity and brightness of the sun influence the drying time of your painting. When is it not possible to paint outside?

  • When the wood is damp

Just like painting the inside of your home, it is important that you only have wood painted when it is dry. Moist wood ensures that your painting quickly peels. If wood rot is already present in the wood, the painter must first treat it.

  • When the temperature is above 85 degrees Fahrenheit

When you start painting at a temperature of 85 degrees, it is possible that there will be blisters in the paint. Of course, this is not great looking finish that you want on the exterior of your home so it’s best to avoid temperatures above 85 degrees.

  • When the temperature drops into the 40s and lower.

The colder it gets the harder it is to paint and the longer it takes to dry.  It’s also not very comfortable painting in cold weather.

Exterior Painter Shoreline CTTips for maintaining beautiful paintwork

When you have your house painted, you want the painting to remain beautiful for as long as possible. How do you ensure that your painting remains in a good condition for as long as possible? Here are some tips to keep your home paint job looking it’s best once completed.

  • Check your painting twice a year

By checking your painting in the spring and autumn for any damage and repairing it, you prevent your painting from decaying further. Pay particular attention to transitions between horizontal and vertical paintwork and undersides of the woodwork.

  • Update work regularly

In addition to checking, it is also important that you regularly update your painting. By doing this regularly, you prevent larger painting projects. For example, repair wood rot in your window frames and work on seams.

  • Avoid sharp corners

There is only a thin layer of paint on sharp corners, making these areas extra vulnerable to damage. By sanding sharp corners around, you reduce the chance that damage will occur.

Choosing the Right Type of Paint for Your CT Home Paint Job

Connecticut Home PaintersHow to Select the Right Type of Paint for Your Home Painting Project?

There are lots of colors on hand and they come in diverse shades and tints. With many options to be had, how will you know what the best paint to buy is with regards to home painting? Like many other homeowners out there, it is certain that there are requirements to help your paint job look great and last long.  Picking the right paint not only means choosing the perfect color to accent your home.  There are other considerations to consider based on the surface you are painting, current condition of the paint and environment.

When making your paint decision just know that Coastline Painter is here to help. We’re not just your CT home painters; we are also your CT home advisors. With over 35 years of experience on the shoreline of CT as well as New Haven and Middlesex county, Coastine Painters will help you select the best color for your home paint job, and the best type of paint to ensure your home is beautiful for years to come.

Types of Paints and Their Uses

There are water based and oil based paints obtainable available in your local hardware stores and paint specialty stores today. Be advised that experts have warned of the adverse health effects of oil based paints for some time now.  Even if you have customarily used oil based paints in the past it’s wise to move to water based paints to avoid health problems.

Home painting can be a complicated task. It requires creativity, a thorough understanding of the different types of paints, and how to properly apply them to different types of surfaces.  Many homes along the CT shoreline are older and might require some extra care and attention before painting. It’s also important to consider things like the lighting of the room, what the room is used for and the color of the decor. There are numerous types of both oil and water based paints. Emulsion and enamel paints that are water and oil based respectively are also frequently utilized for both exterior and interior home painting.

CT Interior Home PaintingAmongst the water based paints, there are several types of sheen/gloss obtainable. With the rise in popularity of sheen levels, there has been an increase in durability. This also creates a problem for an amateur painter though.  The improved sheen and gloss of paints also highlights imperfections in the surface you are painting.  This is where the expertise of a professional painter comes in to play as they will know exactly how to smooth out the surface being painted.

Satin and eggshell finishes are utilized in heavily used rooms or areas because they are more durable. On opposite ends of the spectrum is glossy and matte.  These two finishes are exactly as they sound.  Satin and eggshell contain some of the benefits of glossy and matte.  Satin is a little more glossy while eggshell is a little closer to matte. Eggshell and satin are commonly used in rooms like the kitchen, bathroom or family room because of the higher levels of traffic.

The matte finish is usually harder to clean but it does a better job of hiding flaws.  Matte finish paints are typically used in home offices and rooms with less traffic. Acrylic paint matte finish is utilized on many walls and acrylic eggshell as well as gloss finish is frequently utilized on trim and woodwork.

After choosing the type of paint, the shade choice is the next consideration.  One common mistake is over painting/coloring an area. This requires a good deal of tact and balance. The shades exude mood. While vivid colors could emanate happiness as well as activity, too much of it could cause a headache. More subtle shades could be perfect for serenity and calmness; however used excessively can create a look of dullness.

With the huge variety of paints available today, you have to be extra careful about your choice.  Coastline Painters can help you choose the best paint to suit your preference, needs and budget.

Four Questions to Ask When Hiring an Exterior Home Painter

Home Painters in New Haven County CT What Should You Look For When Hiring A Painter To Paint The Exterior Of Your Home in Connecticut?

Painting the exterior of your home is a tough task especially with the constantly changing weather on the shoreline of Connecticut. It’s a good idea to know what qualities to look for in a painter when choosing a painting contractor for the outside of your home.  Choosing a quality exterior home painter will save you money and beautify your home for years to come. As a homeowner, it’s important to know what to look for when searching for an exterior home painter.

Exterior painting should be done by an experienced, licensed and fully insured painter. It’s important for a homeowner to practice due diligence when selecting a qualified home painter in New Haven County.

Here Are Four Important Tips to Help Choose a Qualified Home Painter

Competence

One of the most important things to look for in painter is competence. Are they capable of doing the job? Do they have the right skill set to do it? Do they have the know-how to complete the job in a timely manner? Can they answer all your questions honestly? You should interview the painter to make sure they are capable of handling the painting of the exterior of your home. You should also ask for past projects similar to yours along with references from those past paint jobs. A qualified and experienced painting company will be happy to supply you with references from similar paint jobs.

Coastline Painters painting the exterior of a home in Guilford CTExperience

Nothing beats a home painting company who has many years of experience of painting houses and commercial properties. In looking for a paint contractor to paint the exterior of your home, you should make sure they have at least several years of experience painting other home exteriors along the shoreline of Connecticut. There is a huge difference between painting the interior of a home and painting the exterior of a home. An experienced painter knows the most cost effective way to paint the exterior of your home, what type of paint to use based on the material used on the exterior of your home, what tools will be necessary and approximately how long the paint job will take. The painting company’s experience will help you sleep better at night knowing that you have hired the right painting team for the job.

Reputation

Aside from the skills the painter has, it would be wise to know if they have a good reputation. As mentioned earlier asking for references that you can contact will help you determine whether or not the painting company you are interviewing has a positive reputation.  Your neighbors in Guilford & surrounding communities will undoubtedly provide you with feedback about the painting contractor you are interviewing. You can also search their website, Google, Yelp, and Facebook for reviews from previous exterior painting clients.

Insurance
Accidents happen but that should not be your problem to deal with. Your painter should have insurance to cover accidents and injuries on the job.  If they don’t and one of their employees gets hurt on the job you’re home owners insurance will have to cover it.  If the insurance is not enough you could be on the hook for hospital bills, lost wages and more.  It is very important to not only ask if they have the proper coverage but to ask for proof of coverage.  Having the proper insurance and license also shows the level of commitment a painting business has.  Not having proper coverage just means the business is not concerned for their clients.   The last thing any homeowner wants to deal with is someone else’s hospital bills or a potential lawsuit.

Finished Home Paint Job in Guilford CTIn Conclusion

Painting the exterior part of your house takes skilled professional painters. You should practice your due diligence when it comes to hiring the best painting company to complete the job of painting the exterior of your home in an efficient manner. In doing so you will save yourself money over the long haul because the job is done right the first time, and you will finish with your home looking as good as new.  You can rest easier knowing a professional team of painters is treating your home the same way you would.

Best Time To Paint Exterior of Your Home, Madison Ct

Best Time To Paint Exterior of Your Home! Many people think that the best time to paint the exterior of your home is summer or spring, but really the fall months are very ideal for house painting!  In the summer months it can get very humid which causes paint to dry longer, especially if it’s oil which takes a lot longer. We are house painters in Guilford Ct and used to the many different temperature swings in the New England area. First painting your home is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to increase the value of your home!

https://youtu.be/jZAu7bPygXw

When you paint your home in the fall you still have plenty of good weather to take advantage of! Sometimes its easier to do this valuable project in the fall due to the fact that things seem to be a little calmer around the home.  When you have a house painter on the premesis he usually will have a house painting crew with him.  When a good house painter from a reputable house painting company sets up the shop on your property, it can take up a little space.  If you decide to paint the exterior of your home in the fall, the kids are back in school and not around the house during the day, this makes it easier on the kids and family when house painters are working. In the fall, the weather is less humid which helps with drying time, and now with all the new high quality paints being able to sustain colder temperatures its a matter of researching the paint brand for the specifications and seeing the temp range.  Mostly it’s a good idea to stay above 40 Degrees in outside temp but you can go a little colder and do great.  There are a few things to watch for, the house painter you hire will want to make sure that the house surface is dry from any dew in the morning, this might mean a little later start, between 9:00-9:30 or a little later depending on where you live instead of the usual 7:30-8:00 am start, this gives more valuable time for drying.   After the paint or stain is applied in temperature’s at 40 degrees or above it is important that the temperature stay at 40 degrees or above for the next 3 hours so that the drying process is good.  Also, at night it’s important that the temperature does not drop below freezing the first night because curing paint can still have some moisture in it and it can crystallize in sub-freezing temperatures at night.  Please know that you won’t be aware of a problem until spring or summer months if this does happen because moisture can stay trapped under the wood, and in the warmer temps find it’s way out, which means bubbling paint!  So, if your house painter adhere’s to these guidelines,  you can have a fantastic paint job in the fall months! Sometimes you can get a little better value if you wait until the fall, a house painter is very busy in the warmer months and may be looking to fill a few gaps in the fall schedule and you can get a better deal!  We are house painters / painting contractors in Guilford Ct and we also serve the Madison Ct, Old Saybrook Ct, Westbrook Ct, Branford Ct areas and are happy to visit your home for a free professional evaluation or if you are not near us, please feel free to call us with any questions, we are so happy to help you! 3 Benefits Of Hiring A Professional Painter For Your Home in Killingworth Ct

kathy facebook imagedave's photoIt’s no secret that many homeowners like to try and tackle home improvement projects themselves. Let’s be honest, though, unless your Chip or Joanna Gaines from HDTV’s Fixer Upper, chances are you’re not quite sure you know what you’re doing. While the internet is a great resource full of endless information, you may not be able to teach yourself how to paint a room (well) from doing a couple hours of research. If this sounds like you – it may be time to call a professional house painter  to come get the job done. You’ll save yourself time, headaches, and energy!

Here are some tips for 3 Benefits Of Hiring A Professional Painter For Your Home in Killingworth Ct

 1.Safety and Equipment

Depending on when your home was built, you could have paint that contains lead. Typically, this is found in older homes, built prior to the 1970’s. But, it can be very dangerous to your health if you don’t know how to take the proper safety precautions. In fact, certain methods of removing lead paint can release more lead particles – increasing the exposure to lead.  Not only does a professional house painter know the proper techniques to use in a sticky situation like this, they know just the right safety measures to take, and they have the right equipment to do so.

 2.Knowledge and Experience

Maybe you’ve painted a couple walls and ceilings, or maybe you’re a little more experienced and have been down this road several times. No matter how many years you’ve been painting your house, chances are a professional house painter will still have more experience than you. There isn’t anything wrong with that – it is their profession after all, but for people who like to do things themselves it can feel intimidating to ask someone else for help. Just remember; a professional house painter or house painting company probably paints multiple houses and projects per day. Interior and exterior house painters are so used to setting up for a house painting  job, perfecting the job, and cleaning up afterwards that most professionals house painters  are usually able to complete certain projects within a few hours! Of course this depends on what you’re asking them to do, but you can guarantee that the job will be done more efficiently and will appear of higher quality thanks to their knowledge and experience!

 3.Preparation and Practices

Preparing your home for a paint job doesn’t just involve painters tape, tarp, and tools. Of course you need the paint, too! But, that doesn’t just magically appear once you decide what color you want – you have to choose the exact kind of house  paint to use. There are thousands of different options, hundreds alone in some individual home improvement stores, it can seem nearly impossible to narrow down your choices to even a “top 3!” Luckily, when you hire a professional house painter, they’re prepared to make these kinds of decisions. Not only will they help you to determine the kind of finish you want, but they’ll also probably guide you towards a higher quality paint.

We’ve probably all heard a story from do-it-yourself painters that’s along the lines of, “I don’t understand why the walls are shaded different in different areas – I got all the same color in every paint can!”

Ah. But did you mix them all together? Little (but common) mistakes like this can cause timely and costly fixes. A professional house painter knows the proper house painter practices when painting and  probably as well as they know the back of their hand – it’s just second nature.

5 Easy Interior House Painting Tips from Killingworth Ct House Painter

5 Easy Interior House Painting  Tips From Killingworth Ct House Painter – Coastline Painters LLC also Guilford Ct. Here is website:  http://coastlinepainters.com/

It’s that time again – time to repaint the rooms around your house. Maybe you’re ready for a color change or maybe your walls just need a quick touch up, maybe you don’t want to hire a house painter to do the work, whatever it may be, you can’t go wrong following these 5 easy interior painting tips!  You can become a great interior house painter by following these interior house painting tips!

1. Clean First Many first time painters skip this step because you don’t usually think to clean your walls. However, paint doesn’t stick to dirty walls and dust collects on the surface of your walls just as it collects everywhere else around your home. Wiping down the wall with soap and water first will ensure that your paint goes on smoothly and stays on. Once you’ve cleaned, don’t forget to let the wall dry overnight!

2. Mix Paint Cans Together When you have a large area to paint, you’ll need several cans of paint. Unfortunately, the mixer at the paint store doesn’t always use the exact same amount of mixture so the color can slightly vary from can to can. To avoid this, mix all of your paint cans together. This will give you one uniform color.

3. Use an Edger If you’re looking to save some prep time, forego the painters tape! You’re probably thinking, “what? Isn’t that the first thing you should do?” Well, typically yes. But, if you’ve done this a time or two before and you’d like to save some time this go-around, buy a good quality edger to get the corners and edges. You’ll just have to go a little slower around the edges without the tape.

4. Refrigerate Rollers Have you ever needed to stop your painting job part way through? It’s quite common that you wouldn’t paint an entire room all at once. Do you dread rinsing your rollers every time? We don’t blame you – it can be a pain. Next time, try wrapping your rollers in plastic wrap and refrigerating them while you’re not painting. When you’re ready to get started again, just take them out of the fridge and you’ll have rollers with “fresh” paint that are good to go!

5. Use the Right Roller Lastly, you should always use the right roller for the job. When you’re buying roller covers, make sure to look at the “nap” length. Nap is the material that covers the roller cover, but it comes in different lengths to accommodate different textures. For example, if you’re painting a smooth surface (like wood or wallboard) you can use nap that is 3/8 of an inch long or shorter. For more textured surfaces, you’ll want to use longer nap to ensure that every nook and cranny gets covered.

So, next time you want to start repainting the rooms around your house – remember these pro painting tips. You can get the job much more efficiently when you take the proper steps to prepare the area and you’re using the right tools. While painting is hard work and can be a tedious job to complete, it’s always well worth your effort. You’ll love experiencing the new atmosphere a color can bring, and you’ll be extremely proud of what you were able to accomplish!

Best Time To Paint Interior, Guilford Ct

There are several good reasons to paint your home in the late fall and winter months!  Some people don’t want to because of the odor and fumes.  Luckily, there are great solutions to these issues!  This is why I created this blog “Best Time To Paint Interior, Guilford Ct”

One good reason is the cost, in the late fall months and the winter months many painting contractors slow down, they are looking to fill schedules for work!  What does this mean to you?  A discounted price! When we are busy, we are not going to discount work, but when there  is a need we will do what we can to secure you as a long term customer!

We have been house painters, painting contractors in the Guilford Ct area, the Madison Ct area and up and down the shoreline for many years and we are always offering great coupons on seasonal work to book it as early as possible! So when should you start looking for a house painter for interior painting in the late fall and winter months?? Believe it or not, start in August and September!  Why not?  You get a great price and by booking an interior house painter early, you get priority booking!  This matters, especially if you are planning a nice winter vacation get away, or if you have company coming!

But more importantly we care about our customers, and a lot has changed in the painting industry since we started house painting in Branford Ct many years ago! When we started out in the mid 70’s there was not a lot of information about VOC’s.  Now, there is so many websites and places that provide free information about this.  We want to give our customer’s not just a great interior paint job, but the healthiest way to do it! That means paying attention to what’s in the paint!

Now that all said, some people will say “the house smells and we can’t open the windows because it’s cold outside”!  Well, there have been a lot of improvements over the years with paints.  I remember for many years, when we would paint inside, the customer would smell it for days!  Even long after it dried, you would walk in the house and all you could smell was the paint as if we had just put it on!  NO MORE!

Benjamin Moore has a line of paint that is called Natura Waterborne Zero-Voc and Zero Emissions Paint !  This product line was created by Benjamin Moore to provide the most eviromentally friendly paint, it is not only a zero VOC paint, it offers absolutely NO EMISSIONS!  Which means no smell, no inhaling harmful chemicals long after the paint dries!  Consumers think that because the paint is dry and you can’t smell it any longer that it’s not putting out harmful Emissions, this couldn’t be further from the truth!  This is why when you decide to paint the interior of your home using a professional house painter in your area or a house painter in Guilford Ct you need to request the NO VOC and Zero Emissions paint.

The initials VOC stand for Volatile Organic Compounds, these compounds are a large group of carbon-based chemicals.  these compounds have been linked to respiratory illnesses!  There is a misconception that if you can’t smell the paint, then there are no VOC’s, there is paint that has VOC’s and they have no odor!

VOC levels indoors are usually about five times higher then outdoors.  When studies have been done focusing on the effect that VOC’s have on our health they take into consideration they have found that low levels over a long period of time can cause many harmful health outcomes such as:

Headaches, Nose irritation, eye irritation, Nausea, Vomiting, dizziness, asthma symptoms can become worse.  Long term exposure to high levels of VOC’s can increase the risk of:  Cancer, liver damage, kidney damage and central nervous system damage. I don’t want to freak you out, but it’s always good to get a broad spectrum of understanding of this product.

There are a lot of good websites out there that help educate the public about VOC’s and air pollution that we breathe in our homes and ways to reduce it. This can feel daunting, but small steps add up to big ones!

Unfortunately there are many places in our home that has VOC’s such as carpets, glues, sealing caulks, vinyl floors, upholstery fabrics, varnishes and many more.  So, whenever you can, reduce this chemical outpouring by investigating what you are buying, installing or applying and see if there are other variations without the harmful VOC’s.  Every little step helps, especially the paint on the walls!

We are painters in Guilford Ct and right next store to our little town is another great town called Branford Ct.  We go to Ring’s End there as oftern as possible because they carry high quality products and the staff is very knowledgeable!  Their NO VOC paint line is called Nautra Zero and Zero Emissions Paint.  It cost a little bit more then the paint with the harmful chemicals, but when your health and your families health is at risk, cost is not the point!

Here is a great link to Benjamin Moore site with great information about this paint:

http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/for-your-home/product-catalog?prod=Natura_Waterborne_Interior_Paint#piSheen=512&tab=2

Here’s another thought that has nothing to do with house painting but everything to do with your family’s  health, what about the arts and crafts paints that you and your children use?? Is is non VOC ? Don’t assume it is, be sure to check it out. I came across a great article when I was researching this article and I never ever thought that there might be VOC in paints that we give our children to play with, or paint that would have it.  Here is a link to a website that I found this on and I thought that it was very interesting.

http://www.networx.com/article/enjoy-good-healthy-fun-with-no-voc-paint

So, as you can see, there is a lot of areas in our homes and lives that have chemicals, and any little step we can take to slowly start eliminating them really adds us.  It goes far beyond hiring an interior painting contractor, guilford ct to help eliminate this stuff.  I have two kids, my son is 28 and my daughter is 25 and I shudder to think of the many times when they were little we played with play dough and paints and my daughter loved to chew on play dough!  I know it sounds gross, but that was her thing no matter how many times I asked her not to!  Now after reading about toxic chemicals in the arts and crafts products, what was my daughter actually putting in her mouth??   Also, I must apologize for having to sprinkle the phrases ” paint interior, Guilford Ct” and “Paint interior, Madison Ct”  I have to do this during this blog so that the search engines pick up my article and rank it so you can see it.   We are putting out regular blogs about all kinds of stuff that helps improve our lives.

Like I said earlier in the article we have been painters for many many years and our customers always call us when they have painting needs.  We have become fond of our customers and we do care.  Of course we want to give a high quality job in a timely manner, but now we want to make sure it’s a healthy one as well.

Here is a link to another Eco friendly paint company,  I copied a paragraph from their front page website, I will post a link below to their website so you can check them out as well.

ECO FRIENDLY PAINTS At ECOS Paints, we create paints, varnishes, and other finishes that genuinely contain zero VOCs, no toxic solvents, no toxic anything. OUR PETS’ HEALTH!!!

Here is another interesting post from the above Eco website, it’s about our pets!

Why do pets need special paint?

Everybody knows that pets can be much more sensitive to smells, chemicals and pollutants than human beings are. But, it is not only our pets’ ability to detect these chemicals that makes them more sensitive, the fact that they are generally smaller than humans makes them more likely to suffer serious health issues as a consequence of exposure.
Traditional paints contain a cocktail of harmful chemicals, solvents and VOCs. We notice them as odors, but many of them do not smell and these pollutants can off gas from paint for several years. For animals, this problem is doubled, because they are in the habit of actively sniffing their environment and even licking, biting and chewing things that we would never put in our mouths. As a result, pets actively ingest the harmful chemicals that normally remain on walls, floors and doors.

Wow!!! I am an animal lover! I have an English Mastiff that is only two years old and weigh’s about 200lbs right now, and he feels that it’s his main priority in life to lick anything on the floor and sniff anything at all!!! This is really making me realize I need to also re-think my floors. We are going to sand and refinish them this winter, but I  think this article has made me realize I need to do some research on hardwood floor stains, and clear coats and see if I can find ones that have no harmful chemical’s.  One sec, I am going to check this out and post what I find below.

Good news! The above company offers healthy stains!  Let’s see if I can find another website.

Benjamin Moore also offers floor stain with No VOC

This is really amazing and I bet if we dig further we could find all kinds of ways to eliminate toxic chemicals from our home. I would imagine that it’s in our carpets and furniture as well!

Here is a link to a green carpet company that explains what’s in our carpets:

http://greenandhealthy.info/toxiccarpeting.html

Here is an excerpt from the website about new carpets:

  • Contain toluene, benzene, formaldehyde, ethyl benzene, styrene, acetone and a host of other chemicals that are known carcinogens and produce fetal abnormalities in test animals. These chemicals also cause hallucinations, nerve damage and respiratory illness in humans. Please refer to this article: “Toxic Emissions from New Carpets

I would suggest visiting this website and also doing some searching on your own about the toxins in our carpets.  Here is a link to another website that gives instructions and tips on how to clean your carpets without harmful chemicals:

When I think about when my children were toddlers crawling around on my carpet, leaving a snack on the carpet, I shudder!  But for most of us  we did then what we knew then, when we knew better we did better!  I think that’s the best way to look at it!  I never even thought about chemical’s in my carpets when I remodeled my house 26 years ago!  Well, at least moving forward I can look at things with fresh eyes and make sure that I try to find solutions that are the healthiest when purchasing items and products for my home.   I would love to write another blog about the food we choose to eat, since I became a vegetarian accidentally almost 4 years ago, and how my health has improved on a steady basis.  I will save that for my personal blog.

I hope that that this blog “Best Time To Paint Interior, Guilford Ct” has been really helpful. I started out just wanting to inform my customers about a non toxic no VOC and no emissions paint that is available, and through that it has lead to all the other areas in our home that are just as harmful! Truly informative for me.  Thank you for taking the time to read this blog “Best Time To Paint Interior, Guilford Ct”  I hope it is most usefull!  Please know that if you have any questions you can always reach us at 203-458-2073 or email me or Dave at coastlinepaintersllc@comcast.net

Exterior House Painting Branford Ct

When you call a painting company for an estimate, what makes them stand out? What should you look for in an excellent painting company? This is why we wrote this blog “Exterior House Painting Branford CT”dave's photo

Here at Coastline Painters LLC we offer a very high level of customer service! After we meet with our customer, we have a detailed estimate sent to them by email within 24 hours. A few days later, we call to see if they have any questions and would like to schedule the work. A lot of time, we hear the same thing from customers, ” I wanted to compare your estimate with another company, but the other painter never sent me an estimate after I met with him” or we hear, ” I am still waiting for another painter to come out and give me an estimate, he hasn’t called me back”
We make sure this NEVER happens at Coastline Painters LLC! When we start your job, we are on time, professional and efficient! Some companies allow their house painters to smoke on breaks and play loud music, we NEVER allow this!

I hope this blog “Exterior House Painting In Branford Ct” has helped you! And as always,

Painter Westbrook Ct, Tips On How To Find Exterior or Interior House Painter

Finding a good house painter shouldn’t be difficult, there are a few things to look for, so we created this blog “Painter Westbrook Ct, Tips On How To Find Exterior or Interior House Painter”

Finding a interior and exterior house painter Westbrook Ct is as easy as doing the following:

First, check to make sure that the interior and exterior painting  contractor is licensed in the State of Ct and that the license is current and in good standing. Just go to Department of Consumer Protection.

Second, take note of how fast they call you back, how fast they schedule the estimate and if they follow up with a written estimate giving details on prep work, kind of materials being used, how long the job will take.  How you are treated in this process will most likely carry over to how they treat you during the job.

I hope this is useful for you, and as always, please call with any further questions or professional advice you may need! We are happy to help! We hope that when  you search for interior or exterior painters in Branford, Guilford or Madison Ct or anywhere else, that you can use these guidelines!
